Information for New Zealanders Living in Georgia

To register as a New Zealand national living in Georgia, please visit the online database managed by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This centralizes all information and enables people to be contacted quickly, should that be necessary. Follow the instructions online at https://www.kiwisoverseas.govt.nz/kos/kos.aspx.

If you apply for a State of Georgia Driver's Licence, your New Zealand Driver's Permit must be surrendered to Georgia authorities. Previously, these were returned to the Consulate, now they are destroyed. If you applied for your licence prior to 2003, it may be on file at the Consulate. If so, it can be collected by you, in person. You must show your New Zealand Passport to confirm your identity.

We have applications for New Zealand passports and renewals and provide information and applications for New Zealand Visitor's Visas and Permits, and Business, Student and Work visas. We provide details on how to register the U.S.-born children of New Zealand nationals, as New Zealanders.

If you are planning a trip home (or anywhere overseas) this year, check the expiration date of your New Zealand Passport now. Also check the passports of family members. You can download applications from www.passports.govt.nz . Click on the link "Applying Outside New Zealand". Note that passports are issued only in Wellington, Sydney or London. Be sure to download the application for the city you intend to use. Only these offices have the facilities to produce today’s high-tech passports. There is no difference in the service provided, or turnaround, which is about 2-3 weeks. You may wish to check the exchange rate with the U.S. dollar to determine the city you use. Fees can be charged to your credit card. The Embassy strongly recommends that you forward your application by courier or U.S. registered mail that you can trace online.
